Arrival/ Dismissal

Our first priority is the safety of students and staff. All rules and procedures are designed with this goal in mind, so please help us keep everyone safe, happy, and ready to learn by using patience and consistency during arrival and dismissal.

Arrival

The doors will open at 8:45 AM. The expectation is that all students are in their seats, ready to start the day at 9:00 AM. If your child arrives after 9:00 AM, you need to sign them into the office as tardy. Students cannot sign themselves in if they are late for school.

Breakfast is available at 8:45 for students who need it.

Arrival is drop-off only: parents are not permitted inside to say goodbye to students.

Students will enter the building in different places depending on their transportation. The map above is labeled with information about arrival and dismissal.

► For Students Arriving by Car: Enter through the diamond lane. Safety is our primary concern. Always pull up to the end of the diamond lane to allow for as many cars as possible, thereby reducing congestion on Wagner Rd. Students should exit the vehicle onto the sidewalk once stopped.

Students must exit the car from the passenger side. Motorists must remain in their vehicles. After dropping off a child, motorists may cautiously move from the diamond lane into the passing lane and exit onto Wagner Road.

► For Students Arriving by Bike: Students must walk their bikes on school grounds to ensure everyone’s safety. Bikes are to be walked on the blacktop and sidewalks around the school. Bikes must be placed on bike racks. There is no bike riding in school parking lots. Bike racks are located in front of the building between the two parking lots and on the back blacktop.  It is advisable to secure bikes with a lock.

► For Students Walking:  Walkers come in through the blacktop doors

► For Students Riding the Bus: Bus riders enter through the main door.

Dismissal

We will start the dismissal process at 3:25ish PM.

► For Students Being Picked Up by School Bus or Daycare Bus: Bus Riders will be taken out the main door to their vehicles.

► For Students Being Picked Up in a Car: Car Riders will be ready for cars at the Diamond Lane and exit on the side of the school.

Students must enter the car from the passenger side. Motorists must remain in their vehicles. Once your child is in the car, you may carefully pull into the passing lane to exit onto Carlisle Road. For safety reasons, we cannot permit adults to walk up to the car pick-up area to retrieve their child.

► For Students Walking Home: Walkers will go out the blacktop doors.

► For Students Biking Home: Students must walk their bikes on school grounds to ensure everyone’s safety. Bikes are to be walked on the blacktop and sidewalks around the school. Bikes must be placed on bike racks. There is no bike riding in school parking lots. Bike racks are located in front of the building between the two parking lots and on the back blacktop.  It is advisable to secure bikes with a lock.

Following daily dismissal, all students who are not scheduled to remain in the building must leave the school grounds and check in at their destination, as there is no supervision on school grounds. We want to ensure the safety of all students.

Students may return to the playground after school hours and/or on the weekends. This will be done at the family’s discretion, as our district playgrounds also function as community parks outside of school hours.

Remember

Per Illinois Law (625 ILCS 5/12-601.1), “A person, regardless of age, may not use a wireless telephone at any time while operating a motor vehicle on a roadway in a school speed zone.”
