This cooler weather has been refreshing, but don’t forget to throw a sweatshirt in backpacks for students – the weather is unpredictable at this time of year! On Wednesday, we had our 2nd evacuation drill of the year and there is one more scheduled. Typically, we do that one in the spring and we make it a surprise for both staff and students. Students did very well following staff directions and getting out of the building quickly. Next Friday we have our Law Enforcement and Shelter in Place drills. For the Law Enforcement drill, students watch a video and discuss what to do in an emergency. The Shelter in Place is for severe weather and requires students to go to a place of safety on the 1st floor of the school. All of these procedures are designed to help students feel prepared and safe at school. If you’re interested in learning more, here is the informational video from the district site. The MAP testing window is here and for those new to our school, Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) is used as an interim assessment to determine a student’s instructional level and to provide a means for viewing growth. It is one component of the district’s implementation of a balanced assessment program and complements the district’s continued implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). This data will be used to see the overall growth of the school, the grade level, the class, and individual student growth. Your child’s teacher will let you know the specifics of their MAP testing schedule. Have a great weekend!
