A Note from our Principal:

Dear HWS families,

I hope you are enjoying the extra day with your fabulous child(ren)!  At school today, teams are meeting to make instructional plans for upcoming units, looking at student data to tweak instruction, and our 3-5th grade staff is attending a training on some new ELA materials.  Today is a great opportunity to check your child’s 2nd semester reflection if you haven’t had a chance to do so.  If you go to PowerSchool, under Quick Actions it is the first item listed.  I have heard feedback from parents that accessing on your phone with the app is not as successful as using a PC so if you have difficulty, try a computer.

Next week we will begin MAP testing with students and this year, this is the last assessment for MAP.  PreCovid, we had 3 assessments and finished in the Spring but the schedule has been altered to reflect 2 testing sessions and this one a bit later in the school year.  Your child’s teacher will share their specific testing schedule.

Thank you once again to the PTO for providing a Daddio’s lunch to staff yesterday!  Nothing is more exciting than lunch/treat day in a school.  We appreciate your continued generosity.

Hopefully families saw the flier for the PTO Funway Night coming up on Friday, March 11th.  If you would like to attend but finances are tight, please call the office or email me directly for assistance.

Thank you to the many families who attended the Trivia Night as well.  The Hawk Walk and Trivia Night are our two big fundraisers for HWS and your participation helps fund all the PTO activities and assistance to teachers.  Thank you so much to the PTO for planning these big events.  It was clear that a lot of time and effort went into gathering donations for the big event!

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Sincerely,

Gina Greenwald

Principal
