HWS Messenger 3.28.25

Hoover Wood School

Upcoming Dates:

Spring Break – March 31 – April 4

A note from the Principal:

Dear HWS families,

I hope you are enjoying the start of your spring break!  I am very hopeful that the sun is out for at least part of the week!

On Friday, we held an assembly called The Magic of Science. The presenter shared some chemistry, math and physics with the students using props and calling on lots of volunteer assistants!  This is in preparation for our Science Night coming up on April 9th.  Our school PTO funded this assembly and the students seemed to have lots of fun!  Thank you, PTO!

Today, we had a School Improvement Day, and one of our key focuses at HWS this year has been fostering student collaboration to deepen learning. Each team is at a different stage in this journey—some are still building foundational skills like listening, problem-solving, and clear communication, while others have mastered these and are engaging in more complex discussions and critical thinking. It was incredibly rewarding to see the progress from our kindergarteners to our fifth graders. Our teachers have worked tirelessly throughout the year to help students develop these essential skills, and their dedication is truly making a difference!

I hope you and your family have an amazing spring break filled with rest and relaxation!

See you soon!

Gina Greenwald

Principal

A note from Student Council:

Student Council will be hosting a Penny Wars competition from April 7-15. Buckets will be set up in the lunchroom. Students are encouraged to bring in pennies for their grade level bucket, and silver coins for other grade level buckets. Silver coins will be subtracted from the total amount of pennies in each bucket! The grade level with the highest balance at the end of the competition will vote on a charity to donate the money to, and will win a picnic celebration in May. Start saving that change over break!
