This is the highest rating awarded to schools in Illinois, recognizing our school’s outstanding performance in academic achievement, student growth, and a positive learning environment. This designation means that our school ranks among the top 10% of schools in the state without any underperforming student groups. This achievement highlights the hard work of our students, staff, and families, demonstrating that our efforts to support every learner are making a difference. We are so proud of this recognition, which reflects our commitment to excellence and our dedication to providing a quality education for all students. (Strategic Plan Priority 1) The first trimester will end on November 15th, HWS is committed to providing information about your child’s growth so far this year. Your child’s Trimester Reflection includes student goal setting, self-reflection on learning behaviors, an academic overview with teacher comments, and information about Art, PE, and Music. Students have reflected and recorded their own assessment of the Behaviors that Affect Learning and Specials. Your child’s reflection will be marked with an X. If a teacher’s reflection was utilized, it would be marked with a checkmark. Trimester reflections will be accessible via Power School on the evening of November 21st. If you encounter any difficulties with PowerSchool, please contact tech at helpdesk@bps101.net As we head towards Thanksgiving break, we are inundated with items in our lost and found. If you have an opportunity, please ask your child to search the lost and found, or feel free to come in before or after school to look through the racks. The items will be brought to Goodwill on Tuesday, November 26th. Have an amazing weekend! Sincerely, Gina Greenwald Principal A note from Student Council and K-Kids: The Hoover Wood Student Council and K-Kids are hosting a Thanksgiving Food Drive to support the Batavia Food Pantry. Donations will be collected in boxes by each classroom door from November 18 – 22. The pantry will be preparing Thanksgiving boxes to distribute, so they would appreciate donations of boxed stuffing and potatoes, canned vegetables, and jars of gravy. They also always need soup, pasta, chili, toiletries and diapers. Thank you for supporting our food drive! Holiday Shop Time! The shop will be open for student shopping: Tuesday, Dec. 3 & Wednesday, Dec. 4: 9:30am – 3:30pm The Holiday Shop is a much-loved tradition and a fun way for students to shop for family and friends. Look for a preview link (coming soon) so you and your student can create a shopping list or just send them with a budget and let them surprise you! The Holiday Shop is run entirely by volunteers. This year we need multiple volunteers for 2-hour shifts to help students stay on time, manage budgets, wrap gifts, restock shelves, and make the experience fun! Please click on the link and sign up for any available time slot(s). For questions, contact Amanda NelsonDowns at (630) 460-1853 or Deena Vargocko at (630) 456-1696. Thank you for your support!
