Our next round of testing isn’t until the spring so we all have a break for a bit from that process. In the next few weeks, we will analyze the data and make decisions about students who may need additional support and work with grade levels to check their overall progress. As we are knee deep into winter, just a reminder that due to snow, cold, or icy roads, the district may decide to do an e-learning day. On those days, teachers will post their lessons and assignments on Google classroom for students, will have a virtual morning meeting to explain the day’s assignments, and will be available to answer any questions until 1:00pm. A 2nd virtual meeting will occur at some point during the day to teach a lesson or review questions. During inclement weather times, Chromebooks should be going home each night to be prepared. Our kindergarten students have a baggie of materials that will be sent home as they do not have school technology at home. We are looking forward to a bit of a warm up coming so hopefully, these e-learning plans do not have to be implemented anytime soon! Stay warm! Sincerely, Gina Greenwald, Principal A note from K-Kids and Student Council K-Kids and Student Council have combined forces for a competition between HWS and GMS in a Love and Care Drive from January 27-January 31. They are raising personal care items for the Batavia Rehabilitation Center. They are in need of Kleenex, body wash, shampoo/conditioner, and deodorant. There will be boxes outside classrooms where items can be donated. Our goal is to raise 350 items and to beat GMS! STEM Club for 4th & 5th Graders If your student enjoys Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, they may sign up for STEM Club! The 4th grade sessions will be held from 3:30-4:45 on the following Wednesdays: Jan. 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 12, and Feb. 19. The 5th grade sessions will be held from 3:30-4:45 on Feb. 26, March 5, March 12, and March 19. To sign your student up for STEM Club, please email julie.brach@bps101.net. Please include the student’s name and grade level, along with the parent’s email address and cell phone number. We will meet in Room 101, and the students are welcome to bring a snack to eat after school. A note from the PE teacher: Parents: Please remember that all students need to wear a pair of gym shoes to Physical Education class. If at all possible, please have your child leave these shoes at school or bring a pair on their PE days. Keeping a pair of gym shoes at school was on the student supply list at the beginning of the year. Please do not go out and buy a new pair of shoes. Bringing a pair of shoes that have been used but are clean will work just fine. Wearing boots or Uggs that are worn outside make the floor slippery and unsafe. Thanks for your help with this.
